Why the Nashik Kumbh Is Special?
According to the Puranas, drops of amrit fell at four places during the Samudra Manthan: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik. At Nashik, the Godavari, known as Dakshin Ganga, carries that sacred legacy.
The Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha is the only Kumbh where Vaishnav akhadas bathe at Ramkund in Nashik and Shaiva akhadas bathe at Kushavarta in Trimbakeshwar, near the source of the Godavari and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.
